Hillingdon Council is working with national charity Trees for Streets to encourage residents to sponsor the cost of planting a tree this winter outside their home or at a local school, park or green space.
Trees provide lots of benefits, including shade, absorbing pollution while providing oxygen, creating homes for wildlife and their presence has also been shown to have mental health benefits.
The costs are £230 if you undertake to do the watering or £320 if you get the Council to arrange it.
Trees for Streets is also offering a new crowd-funding feature, allowing local groups to pool resources. To find out more use this link. The deadline for the 2023 winter planting season is Sunday 3 December.
